Daddy's Little Girl

Below is an entertaining and fun little video I came across while surfing blogs. The clip emphasizes that something special concerning the love of a father for his daughter, and how sometimes that love knows no boundaries.

WALL STREET BAILOUT MAKES MAIN STREET WANT TO HOLLER

"Since Bush wants to buy up Wall Street's worthless investments with Main Street's hard-earned tax dollars, some folks are planning to bring their OWN junk to Wall Street to see if they can get a bailout, too." -- Arun Gupta, citizen organizer (Source)

CNNMoney.com is reporting that the public backlash of the Bush administration’s bailout of Wall Street will soon spill into the streets. According to TrueMajority.com organizers, several grassroots organizations are planning 251 public demonstrations in more than 41 states to protest the bailout. Besides TrueMajority.com, these grassroots groups include: Democracy for America, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (Acorn) and UsAction. (Source)

Takin' It To The Streets (Doobie Brothers)

Takin' It To The Streets (Doobie Brothers)
Words and Music by Michael McDonald

You don't know me but I'm your brother.
I was raised here in this living hell.
You don't know my kind in your world.
Fairly soon the time will tell.

You, telling me the things you're gonna do for me.
I ain't blind and I don't like what I think I see.
Takin' it to the streets, takin' it to the streets,
no more need for runnin', takin' it to the streets.

Take this message to my brother.
You will find him everywhere.
Wherever people live together,
tied in poverty's despair.

Oh, you, telling me the things you're gonna do for me.
I ain't blind and I don't like what I think I see.
Takin' it to the streets, takin' it to the streets,
no more need for runnin', takin' it to the streets.
Takin' it to the streets, takin' it to the streets,
no more need for hidin', takin' it to the streets.
Takin' it to the streets, takin' it to the streets,
takin' it to the...

Oh, you, telling me the things you're gonna do for me.
I ain't blind and I don't like what I think I see.
Takin' it to the streets, takin' it to the streets,
no more need for runnin', takin' it to the streets,
Takin' it to the streets, takin' it to the streets,
takin' it to the streets.
(Repeat and fade)

No offense, but Sarah Palin is way out of her league

Does anyone remember how it feels being asked a question which you have no earthly idea towards the answer? So you latch onto The Concept of an Answer in hopes that perhaps something you've sputtered will make sense? Even though you listen to yourself while you supposedly answer the question, knowing in your heart that you make absolutely no sense?

Well, that's Sarah Palin.

Check out this video featuring CBS news anchor Katie Couric's interview of Sarah Palin:

The Struggle Is Over

For whatever reasons, at some point in each of our respective lives, I'm sure we have all experienced our share of mentally and emotionally-challenging moments where we've stood directly in the middle of a crossroad, unsure of which particular path to follow.

Perhaps we had reason to travel into each direction. I mean, that's understandable. Temptation often gives birth towards such mental confusion. But since that scenario isn't physically possible, we found ourselves stuck at a standstill. A struggle involving heartbreak and pain. As usual, filled with uncertainty and unconsciously fighting against an unbeatable foe - our own spirit.

And who can win a battle involving You vs. Yourself? That's an impossible feat, one where true victory can never be obtained.

If, by chance, you've been victorious once or twice, then I'm scared of you. Cause that would mean that you've fought one hellified battle and only ended up destroying your own self.

During the struggle, perhaps there were other forces or people whose whispered and comforting words pulled you towards their direction. Nine times out of ten against your will. At least, until you came to your senses and realized that listening to, and thus following these people was something you no longer cared to do.

So you pulled back from each direction. One by one, and so forth.

Alas, you stood there. Alone. Perceived to be in No Man's Land. Stumped, with absolutely no clue. Wondering which way to turn, which way do I follow? You remain tempted, but lessons learned assure you that it's no longer within your spirit to travel down those same roads again.

Especially since your heartbreak and pain were the result of experiences along the way. So you stand there in the center, continuously wrecking your brain. Continuing to battle against yourself. Sadly, it now appears that you've listened to every word, exhausted every possible choice.

Fortunately, you haven't.

Simply look up, for you have arrived.

Your struggle is over.

SIDEBAR ENCOURAGEMENT

"Why?" - Unanswered Prayer (Rev. Billy Graham's Daughter)

Jena 6: One Year Later

I came across this very good read on BlackVoices.com, concerning the memorable civil rights demonstration that began from one single blog and incredibly took upon a voice of its own. I'm sure you remember the Jena 6 story, I will always remember it because it arose when I first began blogging.

It centers around the racially-charged sentiment shared by many, many people who all came together for one common cause and spoke out and against the outright prejudice and injustice involving trumped up charges against six black teenagers from a small town (Jena) in Louisiana.

I found it to be a very informative read from beginning to end, and it even gives information on the whereabouts and lives of those involved. Click here to read full story.

TEACH ME HOW TO DIVORCE AGAIN?

Have you heard? Bishop Thomas Weeks has a new reality show to search for a new wife. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution,

"This time, Weeks intends to get it right. He will be documenting his efforts to open his heart to love again in 10 streaming video “Webisodes” starting next Tuesday on his Web site www.bishopweeks.com. The idea came after Weeks was flooded with thousands of e-mails and letters from people offering advice about what to look for in his third wife. Some even offered to be his wife." (Source)

I guess the first marital train wreck was not enough for him. I guess God told him to do this to find a wife. Incredible. What a disgrace.

Bishop Weeks please, please sit your azz down. Right now.

I SEE WHY R KELLY DID NOT TAKE THE STAND IN HIS OWN DEFENSE

In his first interview since being acquitted of child pornography charges, R. Kelly confirms that he still has not learned from his ordeal.

When asked if he likes teenage girls by a BET Reporter, Robert Sylvester Kelly answered, "When you say teenage, how old are we talking?" Then he goes on to say that he has some 19 year old female friends. WT___??

Excuse me, Mr. R. "Pied Piper" Kelly. If you are a 41 year old man with 19 year old female friends, you are a pedophile. I know that 18 is the age of majority, but I am reading between the lines. What does a 41 year old man have in common with a 19 year old???

I really tried to give R. Kelly the benefit of the doubt. I really did. He leaves me no other choice but to add him to my "Sit Your Azz Down" list. I know. I know. He should have been on it a long time ago.

Ugh. It is going to be a long weekend. I have to add several individuals to my list.

YAHOOGATE

It looks like I am going to have to break (again) my Sarah Palin fast to report to you that Gov. Palin used a Yahoo email account to conduct government business. (Source) WTH???

Of course, Gov. Parlin's Yahoo account has since been hacked by a group calling themselves "Anonymous". The group has posted Gov. Palin's personal emails and family photos on the internet. (Source)

Don't worry, the Secret Service and FBI are hot on the trail of these email hackers. (Source)

There is so much I want to say about conducting official government business using a Yahoo email account, but I will refrain from any comments at this time.

I hope the hackers are in the process of retaining an attorney and saving their money to post bail when they are arrested.

The funniest Hillary Clinton/Sarah Palin spoof, ever

Tina Fey and Amy Pohler spoof Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton. Watch as they share their take on sexism in the race to the White House. An absolutely hilarious video:

I THOUGHT YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO CELEBRATE AFTER YOU SCORE

This little league football season, I have the pleasure of becoming a Football Mom. Yes, a Football Mom, not Hockey Mom. LOL.

At first, I was not thrilled that my 9 year old son wanted to play football. Next to boxing, football is a brutal sport. You have to be a little nuts to be a football player. I will vent about that later.

As part of my duties of being a Football Mom, I have decided to watch a few professional football games with my husband and sons to learn the game.

Well, tonight I was watching Dallas vs. Eagles. I love Dallas.

Sidebar: I always wanted to be a Dallas Cowgirl Cheerleader. I will save that for another post.

So I am watching the game and I see the most bizarre thing. An Eagles' player, who I learned later is a Rookie, runs toward the end zone (I think that is what you call it). But before he crosses the goal, he throws down the ball. WT__?? He dropped the ball like he had done something. Talk about premature celebrating. You know this is going to be the talk of all the sports channel and youtube for the next couple of days.

I should put him on my "Sit Your Azz Down" list, but will give him a pass this time since he is a Rookie.

How is it possible that outright lies are allowed within political ads?

I always wondered how any politician could blatantly create and approve of political ads which represent misconstrued and outright false statements, which I assume will only mislead American citizens. It's somewhat evil, and doesn't speak of that particular candidate being trustworthy.

But for some unknown reason, perhaps politics, it appears that "attack ads" are what politics are all about. Maybe it's simply me, but I don't understand the point in spreading lies.

Votes? Really? Well, John McCain has been debunked of more than a few political lies and half-truths.

Check out this video:

SIDEBAR MEDITATION: MAY WE LEARN TO VALUE LOVE ABOVE ALL THINGS

"When you get to my age, you'll measure your success in life by how many of the people you want to have love you actually do love you. That's the ultimate test of how you've lived your life." -- Billionaire Warren Buffett

"And now I will show you the most excellent way.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled, where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror, then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.

But the greatest of these is love."

-- Aposotle Paul (Corinthians 13:1-13)

I HAVE TO DEFEND SARAH PALIN ON THIS ONE

Sarah Palin with Charlie Gibson

Now you know that I am not a Sarah Palin fan, but I must come to her defense on how statements from a speech she gave at the Wasilla Assembly of God Church are being misrepresented by the media. In his interview with Gov. Palin, Charlie Gibson clearly took her statements out of context. And then had the nerve to tell her that is what she said when in actuality it wasn’t. Gov. Palin should have had copies of either the transcript or video of her speech to rebut Mr. Gibson's misrepresentations.

In her speech, Gov. Palin actually said the following regarding the Iraq war:

"Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right also for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending them out on a task that is from God. That’s what we have to make sure that we’re praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God’s plan. So bless them with your prayers; your prayers of protection over our soldiers." (a video of the entire speech is embedded below)

Clearly, Mr. Gibson and the rest of the MSM have taken her statement out of context. In my opinion, if you read her statement in context, she actually directed the congregants to make sure that that they pray that our national leaders are sending our military on a task from God. That is, pray that the there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan.

Look people, everybody and their momma are coming out the closet. Christians should not have to go into the closet while everyone else is coming out of the closet.

Sidebar: If Gov. Palin would have shown me her good side on last week, I probably would like her more. She was one step from being added to THE LIST. Her acceptance speech given last week did not exhibit any of the fruit (character) of the Spirit. She spewed a negativity into the atmosphere that was nauseating. I am still recovering from it. : - )

Michelle Obama Promotes Fatherless, Motherless Families

"It is beyond understanding how Michelle Obama can advocate the growth of intentionally fatherless and motherless families when her husband has been such a strong voice on fatherhood based on his own gut-wrenching and fatherless childhood. Michelle Obama apparently hasn't listened closely to her husband's life story, or mistakenly believes that a father can easily be replaced by mom's lesbian partner with no implications for the child's well-being.” (Source)

St. Theresa's Prayer

May today there be peace within.

May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.

May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.

May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.

May you be content knowing you are a child of God.

Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us
.

Thanks to Ananda Leek for sending this prayer to me.

Oprah Winfrey refuses to book Sarah Palin?

Oprah responded to Drudge’s report here:

"The item in today’s Drudge Report is categorically untrue. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over."

I FOUND IT!!!

I finally found some photos of the visibly-pregnant Gov. Sarlin Palin. The photos were taken on April 13, 2008, five days before Trig was born.

The Daily Kos, who ran with this rumor, has conceded that Gov. Palin is Trig's momma for now.

SIDEBAR POLITICAL QUOTE OF THE DAY

"So why then do I think that Sarah Palin would be a terrible vice president? Because I also think that John McCain would be a terrible president. --- CNN contributor Hillary Rosen (SOURCE)"

I PUT IT ON EBAY!!!!

"You know, they say the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick."

To be honest, I fell asleep during her speech. I even fell asleep during the rebroadcast of her speech. I had to travel to CNN to review the transcript.

She did come out fighting. Like a good little pit bull, she ferociously attacked Obama and snapped at Michelle.

To her credit, she does add some excitement to McCain's boring campaign. However, once the nostalgia and shock over her VP nomination subsides, will her limited executive experience withstand political scrutiny?

Overall, the speech was too sarcastic for my taste. It was not a great speech. I did not learn anything new about Sarah Palin. It was filled with the same old complaints about the Dems - they want big government and more taxes while being weak on national security.

Palin scheduled to speak tonight at GOP Convention

Politics aside, I've heard and read many things concerning John McCain's VP running mate Sarah Palin. Some things were good, some bad. But I have to admit how I am interested in hearing the relatively unknown candidate speak and being able to gain an understanding of the woman. While it appears her selection was/is simple GOP pandering, I have to believe McCain saw something within Palin that left him completely overwhelmed.

Of course this probably isn't the case, Alaskan Governor Palin could've been selected for other reasons, but I look forward to hearing the woman give her speech tonight.

Finally, below is a YouTube video which shows Palin back when she was a sportscaster. Palin received her Journalism degree from Idaho University.

HOW MCCAIN MET PALIN

I could not resist posting this video. It is a “spoof” of Sen. McCain’s call to Gov. Palin advising her that she is his VP pick. The actress portraying Gov. Palin should win an Oscar. LOL. Enjoy. We all need a good laugh to ease the political tension that is in the air.

ADVISORY: This video contains profanity. Viewer discretion is advised.

I could not believe my eyes and ears. CNN's Campbell Brown actually called McCain's camp on the carpet about their VP pick.

Gustav Bashes Gulf Coast, Levees Hold

Evacuated residents of New Orleans, Louisiana and surrounding Gulf Coast areas are overjoyed by the fact that Hurricane Gustav, widely expected to cause severe structure damage, wasn't quite destructive as forecast.

NEW ORLEANS -- A weaker-than-expected Gustav swirled into the fishing villages and oil-and-gas towns of Louisiana's Cajun country Monday, delivering only a glancing blow to New Orleans that did little more than send water sloshing harmlessly over its rebuilt floodwalls. It was the first test of New Orleans' new and improved levees, which are still being rebuilt three years after Hurricane Katrina. And it was a powerful demonstration of how federal, state and local officials learned some of the painful lessons of the catastrophic 2005 storm that killed 1,600 people.

There was growing optimism that New Orleans would soon reopen for business. Mayor Ray Nagin cautioned that Tuesday would be too early for residents to return to a city largely in the dark, but their homecoming was "only days away, not weeks."I was hoping that this would happen, that we would be able to stand before America, before everyone, and say that we had some success with the levee system. I feel really good about it," Nagin said.
