Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.(John 14:10 - 14) -

And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. (Revelation 12:10, 11)

I am viewing one of my favorite websites,, and come across the following story:

A Staten Island teenager is in custody after beating his father within an inch of his life over the weekend. James DeLeo, Jr. was charged with attempted murder after attacking his father so severely that it put James DeLeo, Sr. into a coma and included bashing his father's head in with a shovel. Police say that the son was sent into a rage when his father confronted him about staying out too late (the victim was found by police following the fight at 8:30 a.m. Sunday). The teenager first threatened his father with a knife, knocked him down with a punch to the face, stomped and kicked him until he lost consciousness and finally went outside to get a shovel that he would then bash his father's head in with. A roommate who lived with the two DeLeos in Willowbrook called 911 and the son was quickly arrested after an initial unsubstantiated claim that someone else carried out the attack. The elder DeLeo is currently listed in critical but stable condition. A public defender for the son requested his client receive a psychological evaluation before his next court appearance. (Source)

Sidebar: Oh hell no, did I just read that a kid put his father in a coma because his father wanted him to follow his house rules. Blog family, this *ish has to stop or be significantly curtailed.

A rep for the Phoenix Police Department has just released the following statement regarding Mike Tyson's 4-year-old daughter:

I was just advised by investigators that Exodus Tyson was pronounced deceased at 11:45 AM today at the hospital. Our sympathies go out to the family.

Paramedics were called to Tyson's Phoenix home at around 10:30 Monday morning when his 7-year-old son found the young girl hanging from a treadmill by its power cable.

UPDATE: Tyson's family just released this statement:

There are no words to describe the tragic loss of our beloved Exodus. We ask you now to please respect our need at this very difficult time for privacy to grieve and try to help each other heal. (Source)

WASHINGTON (May 26) — President Barack Obama named federal appeals judge Sonia Sotomayor as the nation's first Hispanic Supreme Court justice on Tuesday, praising her as "an inspiring woman" with both the intellect and compassion to interpret the Constitution wisely.

Obama said Sotomayor has more experience as a judge than any current member of the high court had when nominated, adding she has earned the "respect of colleagues on the bench," the admiration of lawyers who appear in her court and "the adoration of her clerks." (Source)

"My momma called me like he talking so crazy whup his azz. So if my momma tells me to whup his azz when I see him I got to whup his azz." The late Rapper Dolla

Los Angeles Police said late Tuesday the killer of Atlanta rapper Dolla acted alone, though they wouldn’t confirm whether Monday’s shooting stemmed from a recent brawl at a local strip club.

Snellville resident Aubrey Louis Berry, 23, is being held on $1 million bail, charged with murdering Dolla, born Roderick Anthony Burton II, outside the Beverly Center Mall in West Hollywood Monday afternoon.

The Los Angeles Times, citing anonymous police sources, reports the shooting may have stemmed from a fightl at Platinum 21 Adult Entertainment on Piedmont Road.

Joseph Green, who works at the club, said late Tuesday that a LAPD detective interviewed another Platinum 21 employee, “Bull” Shaw, earlier Tuesday regarding a fight at the club. Shaw could not be reached for comment.

“I know there wasn’t [a fight] May 13,” Green said, disputing the Times report placing Dolla and Berry at the club that night. “But there may have been one the week before.”

Green said he did not know either Burton or Berry, and a Los Angeles Police spokeswoman would neither confirm nor deny the interview with Shaw took place.

The rapper’s family is also looking for answers.

“As far as we know [Dolla] had no idea it was coming,” said Burton’s stepfather, George Viera. He’s been married to Dolla’s mother, Dawnee Robinson Viera, for three years.

The rapper’s family, including sisters Divinity Burton, 22, and Sadenicole Burton, 20, gathered at the Viera’s southwest Atlanta home Tuesday to plan Dolla’s funeral, scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Murray Brothers Funeral Home. A memorial service, also at Murray Brothers, will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, Viera said.

They learned of Burton’s shooting from his longtime girlfriend, Crystal Jackson, a Los Angeles native and student at Clark Atlanta University. Dolla was planning a birthday party for Jackson, whom he had dated for at least three years, Viera said.

“They [Dolla, Atlanta rapper D. J. Shabbazz and cousin Will Robinson, stage name Scrapp DeLeon] had just come out of P.F. Chang’s,” Viera said. “They heard gunfire and started running.”

Burton was shot in the back, his stepfather said: “The bullet pierced his heart.”

Dolla was like a son, Viera said, and nothing like the stereotype often attached to rappers. “It was a character he played,” he said. “To us he was just Roddy. When he was home, you couldn’t pry him away. Loved to play with his nieces and nephews, loved to play on the Wii.”

He was nearing completion of his first album, “Another Day, Another Dolla’,” Viera said, but had other plans far outside show business.

“He wanted to go to theology school,” he said. “He was very interested in religion. People think rapper, they think hard, but he wasn’t that way.”

But according to a bio on his official MySpace page. Dolla was familiar with street life.

He sold drugs when he was just 10 years old to support his family. When he was five, Dolla writes, he witnessed his father’s suicide.

He addressed his father’s death and his own mortality in one of his songs, “Rainy Nights”: “Papa died at 25 so he must have been great, they say the good die young, I guess I’m on my way.”

Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, who gave Dolla his start modeling Sean John apparel, was among those who sent condolences, via Twitter, to Burton’s family. Ironically, Dolla had just opened his own Twitter account on Monday, a few hours before his death.

“RIP Dolla,” Combs wrote. “God bless his family! He was a good kid! You will be missed player. Don’t take life for granted people!”

Listen to slain Rapper Dolla and his friends as they freestyle rap. Pay close attention to the words in their rap.

Join us Monday May 18th at 5pm Eastern Time for an in depth discussion about Mary Mary's new song "the god in me." What's up with the lyrics? they proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Or another gospel?? Why are so-called "Christians" selling the "gospel"?? Did Christ charge them for the Gospel?? Should Believers collaborate with the world & call it "ministry" or "worship"?? Are Believers supposed to "reach" the world by conforming to the world? What example did Jesus leave Believers regarding ministry? What is the purpose of ministry? Is it our job to appeal to the world, or should we aim to please God & let Him draw the lost? Tune into this exciting show as we discuss this issue! We will be taking live phone calls at the end of the show & there will be a live chatroom! Hope to see you then!

Wayman Tisdale was one of the greatest college basketball players ever. He also played in the NBA, and won a gold medal in the Olympics. When his basketball career was over, he became a very successful musician. His songs are often played on the radio, and several of his albums reached the top 10 in the billboard charts. But he was more than just a basketball player and a great musician. For people who have battled illnesses as I have, Wayman Tisdale was a symbol. He was a living example that even through the darkest times, there is still happiness to be found and things to appreciate. I regret to never have had the opportunity to meet him in person, because I would have wanted him to know just how much I appreciate and admire his potency in courage, hope, and tranquility. Wayman Tisdale has touched more lives than he will ever know and everything that he represents will live in our hearts forever.

If you know of someone who is ill, please share with them this video of Wayman Tisdale so that his inspiration can live on. Thank you for reading.

Nothing can change me. You go through things. You don't change because things come in your life. You get better because things come in your life. In my mind, I have already beaten it (cancer). They got my leg, but they cant get my smile.

Kidnapping suspect failed to register as sex offender; Lesley returns home

HIDALGO — Lesley Perez gave a shy grin Thursday morning as she stood before the television crews stationed in her front yard.

With her hair pulled back and her family looking on, the kidnapped girl who captured the hearts of the Rio Grande Valley made it clear she was grateful to be home.

"Thank you for everything," the 4-year-old, clad in a new dress, said in Spanish. "And I love my mom a lot."

After that, Lesley sang a song and said a prayer in front of the cameras before she showed off the stuffed animals and dolls police gave her.

"I'm so happy we are together," San Juana Perez, the girl's mother, said in Spanish as she broke into tears. "It's a miracle of God that all the people helped us." (Source)

Hit-and-run suspect’s mom bonds out of jail

Sheila Michael, accused of concealing evidence connecting her daughter to a hit-and-run crash that killed five people, was released Thursday night from the Fulton County Jail.

Michael, 52, left the jail at 11:30 p.m. with her husband, Robert. The couple drove away in a dark-colored Ford Expedition.

Michael’s 22-year-old daughter, Aimee, remained behind bars because of a snag in securing a bail bond, a sheriff’s spokeswoman said.

“At the last minute there was an issue with Aimee Michael’s bond,” spokeswoman Tracy Flanagan said. “The family hopes to have it resolved in the morning,” she said.

Aimee Michael has been in jail since April 23. She was picking up cake and ice cream on April 12, Easter, when her BMW struck another car on Camp Creek Parkway, causing a chain reaction crash that killed five, police say. (Source)

Fulton County Judge Grants Bond For Easter Hit-And-Run Driver

ATLANTA -- A Fulton County Superior Court judge stunned a packed courtroom Thursday afternoon when he granted bond to a woman accused of causing an Easter hit-and-run accident that killed 5 people.

Judge Richard Hicks allowed Aimee Michael to post a $150,000 bond, including $10,000 for each of the 5 counts of vehicular homicide.

Prosecutors had asked the judge not to allow bond, saying Michael had proven herself to be a flight risk by leaving the scene of the accident, hiding for a week and a half, and having her car repaired to apparently cover up damage from the wreck.

But Judge Hicks allowed the bond with conditions, ordering Michael to wear an electronic ankle bracelet 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Judge Hicks also ordered Michael not to leave her home. (Source)

BEFORE I WAS A MOM by unknown author

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.!
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of
having my heart outside my body..
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom .

'Mystery Man' Sought in Easter Hit and Run, Suspects Indicted

ATLANTA -- On Tuesday a Fulton County grand jury indicted the mother and daughter at the center of the Easter Sunday hit and run crash.

And Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard revealed that police are looking for a "mystery man" who was at the wreck trying to help the victims, then ran.

During a live interview with 11Alive's Brenda Wood on the Evening News at 7, Howard said that Aimee Michael, who drove the BMW involved in the wreck, and her mother, Sheila Michael, are facing a total of 17 counts, including homicide by vehicle, hit and run, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, tampering with evidence, and hindering the apprehension of a criminal.

Sheila faces the final two counts -- tampering with evidence and hindering the apprehension of her daughter; Aimee faces the bulk of the counts -- including five counts of homicide by vehicle, one of serious injury by vehicle, six counts of hit and run, one count of reckless driving, and one count of failure to maintain lane....

As for the "mystery man," Howard emphasized that all witnesses confirm the man was trying to help at the scene, and he is not a suspect.

"He actually tried to render aid to the vic tims," Howard said, "and apparently became so overcome with grief when he saw how devastating these injuries were," he took off. "We just want to get a chance to speak with him" to tie up some loose ends about what happened. (Source)

Prejean says racy Web photos posted to mock faith

SAN DIEGO — Miss California Carrie Prejean says a Web site has posted racy photos of her in an attempt to belittle her Christianity.

“Recently, photos taken of me as a teenager have been released surreptitiously to a tabloid Web site that openly mocks me for my Christian faith,” Prejean said Tuesday in a statement. “I am not perfect, and I will never claim to be. But these attacks on me and others who speak in defense of traditional marriage are intolerant and offensive.” (Source)

Prince is among the most talented musicians of his generation. He's created a rich and varied music catalog and was partying "like it's 1999" back in 1982. That album, 1999, made him a star, and Purple Rain took him to another level. He's one of very few musicians who writes and produces all of his music and, on most of his albums, plays all the instruments, except for brass. The son of a jazz pianist, he's won seven Grammys and an Oscar and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004—the first year he was eligible.
