When asked what is her plan for herself going forward, besides writing a book that chronicles her dysfunctional childhood, Mary Harvey wants women to reclaim our virtue:
"We have to start standing up for our virtue as women. We don't need a self-proclaimed guru to tell us what we need to do as women. God gave us that ability inside ourselves to say this is who we are, this is what we represent, and we need to start doing that and stop letting guys with a book dictate to us [and] our daughters about who we should be as women; how we should think as women; how we perceive relationships; and how we gotta try match up to some guy that we trying to go get. That is ludicrous."
Harvey also stated that the boiling point, which forced her to come forward with her side of the story, came when she read an article in Essence Magazine where Steve Harvey basically blamed her for his personal pain and credited Marjorie for removing that pain.
